Random Conversations #47

Eliza:  Momma we really need to make you a ballerina suit.

Sydney's first dance

Her big brother was the first person to ask her to dance.

Sydney is finally 12

All of her life Sydney has always seems years older than she actually is.
When she was a baby her pediatrician would look at her and ask how old did you say she is?  Then say, "are you sure?" like I didn't know how old my baby was.

He is from Taiwan and used to smaller people.

Once when we were at a regular check up, after the nurse had come in and weighed and measured Syd, the doctor came in.  He took one look at her numbers and then measured her again.  He had a puzzled look on his face and then measured her another time, this time not stretching her quite as much.  Then he said, "that's better" and wrote the shorter measurement on his chart.

Sydney got make-up for her birthday.
I just love this girl!
Sydney is in the 7th grade.
She made the school volleyball team this year.
She loves going to Young Women at church.
She is 5'9" and growing.
She is smart and kind and so funny.
Love you Syd!

First day of school

Last year I had the greatest idea.
We had just planted a new citrus tree and I thought we could take pictures of the kids by it each year so we could see how they grew compared to the tree.
Great idea... the only problem was that the tree didn't make it through our horribly HOT summer.
So here they are by the dead tree.
It is hard to believe they are growing up so fast.

Price is a freshman in high school.
Sydney is in 7th grade.
Marley is in 5th grade.
Lane is in 2nd grade.
Eliza is in preschool.

Random Conversations #46

While we were doing our Saturday morning super clean Eliza was having a hard time wanting to do her share.  She disappeared for a while and then came running in...

Eliza:  Mom, if I make my bed will you give me one hundred dollars?
Me:  No
Eliza:  (sigh) why not?
Me:  One hundred dollars is a lot of money.
Eliza:  What if I help clean the whole house?  Will you give me one hundred dollars?
Me:  I'll give you twenty-five cents.
Eliza: OK!!!!!!!

Lake Powell 2010

Also by Paige.  The girl has skills!  Thanks Paige!!!

The Legend of Lake Powell

My sister, Paige directed this movie and we all acted in it.  I love it!

Bad luck

So we had a streak of bad luck while we were at Lake Powell this year.  Just caught a couple pictures of it.
This is my dad, Rob, and Tag fixing the generator on our house boat.
Here is Rob and my Dad making a mad dash for Antelope Point (a 35 mile drive) after we hit an underwater island and tore a hole in the ski boat.

We also had the bilge pump go out on the ski boat, hit the wall of a canyon with a jet ski.  Most of this happened by Monday evening.  Rob spent the next couple of days fixing everything while the rest of us enjoyed.  I am really glad to have a guy who's not afraid to fix things.  It was really nice to have Tag and my Dad there as well.  It might sound strange but I think they had a good time working things out.

It was still one of the best vacations ever!

A really cool hike!

Our friends told us about this amazing hike at the end of Wetherill Canyon at Lake Powell.  We took the jet ski and had one of them tow the kayak.  When we got to the end of the water we wedged both jet skis  in by tying up the kayak.  Then we climbed from the kayak to the middle jet ski and then to the other jet ski.  An adventure before our hike even started.

Keyhole Arch

Who knows what is keeping these boulders from falling down.

Sydney was quite the trouper.  She didn't complain once about how hard it was and she was willing to try anything.  Her Uncle Tag kept saying he didn't know another 11 year old that is so not wimpy!  That's my Syd!!!

These little frogs jumped straight up the wall.

There are a few times in life that just make you sit back and wonder on the beauty of God's creations.  Amazing!

My Mom!!!!

My mom has never been one for high adventure.
She has always been happy to sit back and let other people try things and keep her feet safely planted on the ground.
This last trip to Lake Powell she stepped no....leaped out of her comfort zone to try some new things.
I have never been more proud of her.
