Conversations on a tube #1

I have posted about it before but my husband LOVES to go to the lake. So we go whenever time and circumstances permit. Recently we got a 3 man tube that we pull behind the boat and when people are out there on the tuve, no matter who is out there, if you watch them closely they talk the entire time. I have always wished I could hear what they were saying. That is why we put a secret chip with a microphone on the tube that hooks up to my ipod. Just kidding.

Usually when I ride the tube I take Eliza out there with me. That is just my insurance that I will stay safe and mostly dry. Especially because the water is still on the chilly side. Yesterday I rode with Lane, Eliza, and Jilli (our 6 year old cousin.)

Jilli: Are there sharks in this water?
Me: No
Jilli: So they took them all out?
Me: No sharks don't live here they just live in the ocean.
Jilli: .......Ocean, yeah now I remember.

Painting

I spent 4 hours painting our pool fence today. I am just trying to beat the intense heat. I got about 10 percent of it done, so only about 36 hours to go.

Trouble

Do you ever have that moment when all of a sudden you realize that you haven't heard or seen a particular child in the last few minutes and something tells you that you better find out what they are doing asap?
.
That is what happened to Rob and me when it was just the three of us at home and he says, "where's Eliza?" The only thing I could think was "Oh No!" She is either in danger or the girl's in trouble.
.
Luckily she wasn't playing with knives or climbing on something dangerous or playing in the pool. She had just decided to paint her own finger and toenails and then spilt it all over the bathroom mat (the one I just bought about a month ago). Then she tried to use water (a lot of water) to clean it up. When the water didn't work she got out the fingernail polish remover and spilt that all over the bathroom. This is how she looked when we discovered her.

It really is a good thing that Heavenly Father makes them so cute when they are so little and think they are so big and can do so many things on their own. We are so blessed!

The Chizzler

In the movie Cheaper by the Dozen II there is a pack rat they call "the chizzler" who steals random things and stashes them away. We never knew it before, but this last week we discovered that "the Chizzler" is alive and well living at our home. How we discovered our very own "Chizzler"...
We were getting ready for church on Easter morning and Price laid on the ground in front of this bookshelf and looked into that little hole in the speaker. He said it looked like there was something in there. The hole isn't very big so he reached his hand in as far as it could go and pulled some tissues out. Marley then came along with smaller hands and discovered a flier for the Christmas chorus concert, receipts, various pictures taken from the photo albums on the bookshelf, a check list, hair ribbons, Christmas ribbons, and at least a half of a box of tissues. All from that little hole in the speaker.
.
Then in unison we all said, "Eliza!"

Easter

We came home from church and waited for Rob to get home so we could get a good family Easter picture. After about 10 minutes we all got a little restless and just took them without him. That turned out to be a good idea because Rob didn't come home for an hour and a half. We were way past fancy by that time. The kids weren't really in the mood for taking pictures. I think you can tell by our results.

Random Conversations #15

Marley: Mom, if you could pick one time in the year that you could break your arm, what time would it be?
Me: Never
Marley: What if you had to? Well, I would pick the Fall because you can't swim because it is cold and you are always stuck in school.

Later

Marley: I've been told that if you break your arm at school they also let you ride in the wheelchair.

How tall are you? #2

Another family get together. I don't think anyone has changed places in line since the last time we lined them up by height but some of the cousins are here that weren't last time and some are missing.

Tanner-17, Travis-13, Price-13, Ellie-11(for one more week), Sydney-10, Emma-11(for 3 more weeks), Steele-12, Marley-9, Slater-9, Gracie-9, Turner-9, Lilly-9, Larkin-6, Lane-6, Jilli-6

5 down 27 to go

Lane lost yet another tooth. Friday morning she mentioned that her tooth was loose. She asked me if I could pull it out. I am no expert but it didn't feel very loose to me. She worked on it all day and by the early evening her dad was able to get it out with some dental floss.
So I am not sure saying Lane lost another tooth is the right way to phrase it. It was more like Lane ripped another tooth from her mouth. If she keeps going at this rate soon she'll have no teeth left at all.

Talents

We were sitting at dinner the other night when the kids started revealing some of their hidden talents.
Sydney and Price can both bend their tongues in a M shape. I wonder if that is genetic.

Here is Marley raising her eyebrows, looking cross-eyed and flaring her nostrils concurrently.

Lane can cross her eyes and suck in her nostrils (without the aid of her fingers)

Eliza can stand on one foot.

We've got talent, yes we do!
We've got talent, how about you?

Marley: If you could break your leg anywhere in the world where would it be?
Me: Ummmm,..........
Marley: I would do it at school because they don't even have crutches they just have a wheel chair.

What..... a teenager?

Price turned 13

We went out to dinner with the Kings to celebrate
I am loving that Price is getting older. He is getting a great sense of humor. He is a sweet brother most of the time. He can't help himself but tease his sisters everyday but he is a boy. He is getting so big. His hands are now bigger than mine, his feet are big and getting bigger (size 10.5), and he was 5'8" tall the last time I checked. I made him shave his upper lip the other day because it was looking kind of mustachy. He stays up later than the rest of the kids and will cuddle with me on the couch watching TV while Rob is at his meetings. I love that.

I do miss my sweet Pricey though.

Nyquil

I really should have taken some

too late now.
